Proving the fact that the weather can go from one extreme to the other in Western Pennsylvania, winter weather returned to Indiana County after two days of weather that melted all the snow and had temperatures near 60 degrees.
Three inches of snow fell in the last 24 hours, according to the PA American Water Company’s Twolick Filter Plant, and with the amount of snow that’s fallen and the pace it’s coming down, it has made things tough for some road crews that are out cleaning the roads this morning. PennDOT has been plowing the highways, but neighborhood roads may not be touched as of yet. Roads may be very treacherous as the snow may be covering a layer of ice from the rains that hit the area yesterday.
Drivers are being advised to take their time, and if it looks horrible outside, you may not want to risk it. If you do have to be out, check road conditions at 511PA.com or by calling 511 on your home phone to get the latest information from PennDOT.
PennDOT also encourages drivers to have their car emergency kits adjusted for winter weather, and you can find tips on that at www.penndot.gov/winter
