Cole and the Pirates avoid salary arbitration by agreeing to a $6.75 million contract. Shortstop Jordy Mercer also signed an agreement worth $6.75 million and reliever George Kontos signed a $2.725 million contract. Felipe Rivero did not agree to terms by yesterday’s 1:00 PM deadline and it will go to arbitration, but they can still negotiate up to the hearing date.
