The Indiana School Board met last night with only one item on their agenda: an agreement concerning solar power for some of the schools in the district.
The board had to hold a special meeting for this solar power agreement with BrightEye Solar of Lancaster because of the timing of the grant application, according to Board President Walter Schroth. A limited time was offered for the grant application, and before the application was made, the agreement had to be put in place. With the way the meeting schedule worked for January, the regular meeting would have been after the deadline.
In December, the board approved the application for the $3500 grant and funding for it, but prior to sending it in, the board needed to approve an agreement with a contractor that would file the application on behalf of the district.
The motion passed by a 7-1 vote, with Doug Steve the lone vote against the motion.
The board will hold their regularly scheduled meeting on Monday at 7:30.
