The Indiana County Commissioners met this morning and approved another agreement to provide wireless internet for an underserved area of the county.
This morning, the Commissioners approved an agreement with local internet service provider Rednet to lease tower space on the EMA tower on Strongs Hill. Rednet will install equipment for public access wifi to the surrounding area including Cherryhill Township. County Commissioners Chairman Mike Baker said that the agreement was an important one, and that the county’s relationship is a great one.
Rednet has similar agreements with the county for two other towers.
In other business, the commissioners approved an intergovernmental agreement for the Indiana County Jail that will give inmates who feel that they have been sexually harassed or violated the ability to contact a third party by phone to report the charge and initiate an investigation. The department of corrections will provide the jail with a phone and phone number for the inmates to use for that purpose.
