Ruth B. Varner, 92, of Indiana, passed away Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, at her home.
A daughter of the late Frederick T. and Mary Elizabeth Keener Byers, she was born Jan. 13, 1925, in Johnstown.
Mrs. Varner was a 1942 graduate of Indiana High School. She was an Assistant Treasurer for Indiana County and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Mrs. Varner was a longtime bowler and enjoyed participating in Quilt Club, baking pies, playing pinochle and bridge.
She is survived by three children: Sandra Dee Varner, of Newtown Square; Mary Ann Varner, of Rehoboth Beach, DE; and David Scott Varner, of Rochester Mills; a brother, William Byers, of Phoenix, AZ; two grandchildren: Deena Varner, of Layfette, IN; and Samuel Varner, of Baltimore, MD; and a special niece, Barb Snyder, of Brush Valley.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Scott Morrow Varner; and a brother, Fred “Fritz” Byers.
There is no viewing. A memorial service will be announced at a later time. Robinson-Lytle, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
