The Federation of Democratic Women will hold a program today to focus on taxation.
Tonight’s program will talk about the two tax plans proposed by the state legislature. These plans are senate bill 555, called the Fair Share Tax Plan, and House and Senate Bill 76, the Property Tax Independence Act. The presentation will be made by the chair of the Federation of Democratic Women, Dr. Anne Simmons, and Dr. Susan Welsh and Dr. Nancy Westburg, and will focus on how each proposal impacts the overall tax burden on citizens as well as how to adequately fund public schools. Public school districts rely on property taxes for much of their budget.
The meeting will be held at the Eat N Park on Oakland Avenue. Those attending the meeting will want to get their dinner ordered at 5:30. The meeting starts at 6:15.
