Peggy (Hess) Kunkle, age 82, of Indiana, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2018, at the Communities at Indian Haven.
She was born in 1935 in Indiana to Harry I. and Elizabeth Williams Hess.
Peggy was a school crossing guard for 27 years for the Indiana Area School District and the kids could always count on a treat from Mrs. Kunkle. People knew her as a loving, caring, selfless person with a sweet soul.
Along with her husband Harry, they ran a wood craft business known as”Kunkles Wood N Things” for many years that started with the making of wooden toys for their grandchildren. She was also employed at Indiana Cable Vision as manager for many years.
She loved spending time at Myrtle Beach. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Peggy was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church where she enjoyed listening to her husband singing in the church choir.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter – Dennis Lee and wife Peggy, Indiana; Daniel Andrew and
Maureen Bash, Indiana; Donna Irene Wilson and husband Chris E., Indiana; five grandchildren – Nathan Kunkle and wife Megan England, Michael Kunkle and wife Rebecca Kunkle; and Elizabeth Kunkle, Danielle Siford and husband John; Zachary Wilson, three great grandchildren – Aiden, Dylan, and Olivia Siford; one sister, Donna Halleran and husband Terry, Penn Run; several nieces and nephews and many special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harry A. Kunkle in 2009, a sister Betty Barbi.
Friends will be received on Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a funeral service will be held Friday at 11 A.M. with Pastor Kathy Mihoerck officiating.
