After three-and-a-half-inches of snow fell on Saturday and a number of accident reports from state police yesterday, there are more write-ups today.
The last day of 2017 was relatively calm on area roadways, with only two accidents reported. One was on Route 422 in Cherryhill Township. State police say 19-year-old Faith Dollar of Ebensburg lost control of her car on the ice-covered road, hitting a guide rail just before 3 PM. She was not injured. The other crash yesterday was on Route 119 in Center Township at about 9:30 last night. No report is available yet on that one.
On Saturday, there were five crashes, including one on Route 22 in East Wheatfield Township. Police say a car driven by 18-year-old Emese Kulcsar of Boalsburg, Centre County, spun out and hit the guide rails twice. She was not hurt.
The weekend accident reports also included a crash that took the life of an IUP student in Butler County. 21-year-old Austin Grupp of Renfrew, Butler County, was fatally injured in the accident on Friday morning on Route 422. Grupp was an Army veteran and a member of IUP’s rugby team, and studied in the Eberly College of Business.
