A plane nearly crashed at the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in Westmoreland County.
Reports say on Wednesday afternoon, a small private plane went off the runway after it landed at the airport around 4:30 PM. Airport offiicals reported that after the Piper Meridian plane touched down, it made a hard-right turn and went off the runway. At this point, it’s not known if this had anything to do with the weather or if it was operator error. Two people were on board the plane when the incident happened.
No injuries were reported and the plane was removed from the runway. The incident did force a suspension of airport operations at the time, but the airport is running normally this morning. The FAA has interviewed the pilot about the incident.
