Five days from now, many people in Blairsville will take the plunge on New Year’s Day for a good cause.
The annual Blairsville Polar Bear Plunge will be held on New Year’s Day at the Bairdstown Boat Launch. The event for thrill-seekers looking to kick the year off on the right foot has benefited many different charities over the years, and this year, the money will go to Renda Broadcasting’s Teddy Bear Fund Drive. Ab Detorre of the Polar Bear Plunge said there were three ways to register. One is online through the Blairsville Polar Bear Plunge Facebook page. A second is by contacting the Blairsville Rec Center, who is the main organizer of the event. You can also register the day of the event. Registration is a minimum donation of $20.
