The Indiana County Commissioners made a change to their budget before passing it Wednesday.
During their meeting, the Commissioners approved the budget, which has total revenues of $37,948,840 and total expenditures of $40,159,480. The real estate taxes remain the same at 4.445 mills, and the per-capita tax rate remains at $5. The change was actually a savings of $157,000. Commissioners Chairman Mike Baker said that the savings was realized with a reduction in personnel costs. They did not let anyone go, but they were very careful with how much was given in increases.
In other business, the Commissioners honored their current solicitor Mike Clark, who served the county for 14 years as the county’s solicitor. Clark is stepping down to become the newest judge in the County Court of Common Pleas. Clark had high praise for the commissioners and the office staff. He received a plaque commemorating his time as the solicitor from the Commissioners and was invited to come back and visit when he had time.
Clark will be sworn in as a judge later this month. Meanwhile, a new solicitor is needed, so the Commissioners approved attorney Matthew Budash taking over in January.
