The Penguins blew a 2-0 lead to Arizona, but Olli Maatta scored with 14 seconds left in the third period and Sidney Crosby added an empty net goal as the Pens snapped a three-game losing streak with a 4-2 win over the Coyotes. Carter Rowney and Evgeni Malkin also scored for Pittsburgh.
In college football, defending FCS champion James Madison University won its semifinal game, 51-16 over South Dakota State Saturday, to set up a chance for a second straight national championship. Indiana High School graduate Riley Stapleton caught two touchdown passes and fellow Indiana High grad Darrious Cater has three tackles – including two sacks – for James Madison, which won for the 26th straight time and will play North Dakota State for the national title on January 6th.
In college basketball, Pitt beat McNeese State, 75-51 as Jared Wilson-Frame scored 19 points.
