Sunday’s police reports include an accidental death, two instances of theft, possession, and a hit-and-run.
An East Wheatfield Township man was killed Saturday evening when a tree he was sawing fell on him. Indiana County Coroner Jerry Overman Jr. has not released a report on the victim, whose name has not been disclosed. Indiana County 911 dispatched firefighters from Armagh to the home along William Fry Road at 6:35 PM.
State police report a man from Bangelore, India will face retail theft charges for shoplifting from the JC Penney store at the Indiana Mall Saturday afternoon. 24-year-old Anand Sankaranarayanan is accused of swiping three items from the store shortly before 3 o’clock. Police say he stuffed the merchandise in his back pack and then went to a restaurant in the mall and ate dinner. Police found him there and he consented to a search of his back pack, where the stole items were found. The suspect was taken into custody and later released.
Police say a burglar stole numerous Snap-On tools from a home in Conemaugh Township last month. The break-in happened between November 13th and 17th at the home of Robert Aronson of Clarksburg. Among the items taken were a diagnostic computer, thermal imager, and various socket sets.
Indiana Borough police have filed charges of possession of a small amount of marijuana and of drug paraphernalia against 27-year-old Wesley Wolfe of Punxsutawney. Wolfe was a passenger in a car that was pulled over for a traffic violation in the 500 block of Gompers Avenue on October 16th, and police found the items. Police do not report any charges against the driver.
State police report a hit-and-run vehicle struck a parked pickup truck on Church Street in Burrell Township Friday evening. Tire marks in the snow indicate the offending vehicle was traveling westbound and continued in that direction after the crash. They report no “solvability factors” to help them identify the driver or the the make of the vehicle.
