At Thursday’s IUP Council of Trustees meeting, the trustees heard from university President Michael Driscoll on the state of IUP at the mid-point of the 2017-2018 academic year.
Driscoll said that enrollment for the upcoming spring semester has actually increased by 11%, and he also said that fall enrollment looks promising. While it is still early off to look to fall enrollment, Driscoll said that new freshman enrollment looks good.
Driscoll also said that the budget for next year looks positive, but that is also in the early phases, as it’s not known how much the state budget will give to state-owned universities.
In other business, the Council of Trustees approved the purchase of two parcels of land on South 13th Street. These parcels in the short term will be used as parking, but will gradually be used for projects related to the Allegheny Arboretum at IUP.
