State Representative Cris Dush, who represents Indiana and Jefferson Counties, announced that he has joined a new caucus being formed out of a group of rank-and-file Republicans that proposed using tax dollars in reserve accounts to help fund the budget during the budget negotiations.
Dush was a part of a group of 18 House Republicans that made the proposal, and they are now calling themselves the Common Sense Caucus. Their agenda includes four principles: Accountability and transparency, regulatory reform, target budget cost drivers, and solid academic programing for all career paths. The caucus originally formed during the recent budget sessions, where they refused to stop with the submission of “no-tax-or-borrow” revenue proposals, and proposed using tax dollars in reserve accounts instead of increasing taxes.
The group has scheduled their first hearing on Thursday with Transportation Secretary Leslie Richards.
