A year in the making, IUP’s Diversity Action Plan is nearing completion, and President Michael Driscoll is inviting the university community to help complete the task.
Driscoll is urging students, faculty, and staff to review the plan and contribute their perspectives, opinions, and suggestions. People may contribute comments through February 23rd at diversity-commission@iup.edu. The plan can be downloaded at https://www.iup.edu/diversity-inclusion/action-plan/.
The special commission empaneled in October of 2016 has come up with a number of recommendations, and Driscoll is particularly focused on two of them…developing a mechanism for reporting and responding to incidents, and resolving disputes, AND restructuring existing entities to create a centralized office around which IUP’s diversity efforts can be overseen.
Members of the President’s Commission on Diversity and Inclusion will be meeting with a number of campus groups early in the spring semester.
