Homer-Center is once again gearing up for another big football playoff game.
For the first time in school history, the Homer-Center Wildcats will play for the PIAA state football championship. On Wednesday, the team will leave for Hershey, and principal Jody Rainey is planning a big sendoff for the team with the students of Homer-Center Elementary and High School taking part, and the community is invited to be a part of it too. The team plans board the bus to Hershey Wednesday morning at 9:50 AM. They are encouraging students and community members to line the parking lot as the team walks down to the marquee where the team boards the bus. The community is encouraged once again to bring their signs and wear their Wildcat black and white.
Rainey confirmed that there will be a student bus headed to the game on Thursday, with bus fare costing $1 for a round trip, but students are advised to bring spending money, as they will get lunch at the stadium in Hershey and dinner would be on the road back after the game. More details can be found on the district’s website, www.homercenter.org
There will be no school on Thursday, as a “snow day” will be used for Thursday, and the missed day will be made up later this year. Also, the school board has moved their reorganization and planning meeting to Wednesday night at 7:30 PM.
You can hear more from this interview with Jody Rainey at 9:30 this morning on Indiana in the Morning. And if you can’t make the trip to Hershey, you can listen to the game on WCCS AM 1160 and FM 101.1 and online on WCCSRadio.com through the TribLive high school sports network starting at 11:00 AM with the pre-game show on Thursday.
