The Homer-Center School District, on its Facebook page, issued the following statement Sunday morning regarding the upcoming PIAA Class A football championship game.
Some items regarding our Wildcat Football team advancing to the state championship game to be played this Thursday, December 7 at Hershey Park Stadium at 1:00.
There will be no school (school closing) for students or staff on Thursday, December 7. We will make up the instructional day from the closure on Monday, March 19, 2018.
There will be a team send off from students and staff at 9:50 am on Wednesday, December 6. We will line the driveway with the high school on the high school side of the drive and elementary on the elementary side of the drive. We will begin to organizing and calling students to line the drive at 9:30 am. The team will leave the building and walk down the drive and load the bus in front of the marquee. We encourage students and staff to make signs to wish our team well. Wednesday will also be a district wide spirit day and all district employees and students are asked to wear the Homer-Center apparel to show our support for the team. The community has also been invited to join us to send off our team.
Presale tickets for the game are available until noon Wednesday, December 6 in the high school office. Adult tickets are $8.00 and Student tickets are $4.00. All tickets at the gate at Hershey Park Stadium will be $8.00.
We are offering a student spectator bus for $1.00 ride pass. Students must sign the list and will be given a ticket for their bus pass. All students ride the bus to the game will be required to ride the bus home. Students riding the student spectator bus will depart the school at 8:30 am. Students will need extra money for lunch at the stadium concession stand and the spectator bus will make a stop at a fast food establishment on the way home for a quick food break.
The band and cheerleaders will also depart the school at 8:30 am on Thursday, December 7. If you see a band of cheerleader team member, be sure to commend them. Our band and cheerleaders have been a great source of support and encouragement for our team and have represented our school with great pride and enthusiasm. This game is a celebration of their effort, as well as the team.
Mike Apjok of Magnum Bus is accepting reservations for adults wishing to bus to the game. Anyone interested in making a reservation with Mike can contact him directly at 724-840-1450. Mike is also coordinating a tailgate party at Hershey Park Stadium for all Wildcat fans. If interested in participating in the tailgate (if you ride the bus or not) contact Mike directly at the same number for more details.
The school administration and coaching staff is respectfully asking fans staying in the Hershey area on Wednesday evening to seek accommodations away from the team hotel. The team will be participating in team activities, team meals, teams meetings and wishes to be focused and rested to give their best effort to bring us home a football state championship.
