IUP advanced to the NCAA semifinals with a 27-22 win over Assumption Saturday at Frank Cignetti Field.
Freshman Duane Brown scored the go-ahead touchdown with 1:09 remaining, and the IUP defense knocked down a Hail Mary as time expired.
With the win , the Crimson Hawks claimed the NCAA Division II Super Region One Championship.
IUP has been named the top seed in the NCAA Division II national semifinals and will play host to West Florida Saturday, Dec. 9. Kickoff will be noon at George P. Miller Stadium.
At 13-0, the Crimson Hawks are the only undefeated team remaining and the only No. 1 regional seed that advanced to the semifinals. IUP received a first round bye before defeating No. 5 seed West Chester 44-10 last week. Assumption was the region’s No. 3 seed.
