At the Indiana County Chamber of Commerce Annual Luncheon Friday afternoon, the chamber welcomed a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins Front Office as their honored guest.
Penguins Chief Operating OfficerTravis Williams equated the Penguins recent success on the ice with back-to-back Stanley Cup victories with the victories that had been done in their front office, becoming one of the most popular sports entities in North America today. Williams said that some of the things that the average businessman can take away from the success that the Penguins have had is to go in there with a plan, surround yourself with good people, and have the determination to see your plan through.
Also during the annual meeting of the chamber, Chairman Joe Reschini said that one of the goals of the chamber for the next year will be to help chamber members fill open jobs. Reschini said that the chamber itself is only one part of that equation. He feels it will take the help of many different groups like education institutions and businesses to fill the vacancies, and he feels the chamber can help voice the concerns of its members in getting the word out about jobs. Reschini added that the jobs that need filled are a wide range of jobs from hospitality to financial services to nursing, and that no one particular skill set is being sought.
Also at the annual luncheon at the KCAC, the Chamber announced the fourth class of the Indiana County Business Hall of Fame.
The new inductees represent the strength of the Indiana business community, that according to Jim Keener with IRMC, who is the Vice Chairman of the Chamber Board of Directors.
