Normally, we see brush fire reports in March, but yesterday, several brush fires were reported in Indiana County.
Indiana County 911 reported five brush fires in the last 24 hours. The first report was a brush fire on Route 422 West in Armstrong Township. Indiana Fire Companies 2 and 3 were called out for that report at 1:32 PM. Coal Run and Iselin fire departments were called out at 3:36 PM for simultaneous brush fires in Young Township. One of the fires was on Saltsburg Road and the other was on Cribbs road. Saltsburg and Tunnelton Fire Departments were called in a few minutes later to assist on the scene. Tunnelton Fire department would be called to a brush fire at 4:13 PM on Pine Street in Conemaugh Township, less than an hour after they were called in to assist with the Saltsburg Road fire.
The final brush fire call of the day came at 4:49, when Blacklick and Blairsville fire departments were called out to Strangford Road in Burrell Township for a brush fire. They would be joined 10-15 minutes later by Coral and Homer City fire departments along with Citizen’s Ambulance.
Few details are available on any of these incidents.
