There is new trouble for 20-year-old Matthew McNevin, the Rayne Township man accused of killing one person and wounding another in a shooting last March in Indiana Borough.
State police say McNevin is charged with assault by a prisoner and recklessly endangering after he bit a guard who was removing him from his cell at the Indiana County Jail on Sunday. The 55-year-old officer was treated and released at the Indiana Regional Medical Center.
McNevin is named in two other criminal filings. He’s accused of simple assault and harassment for an incident on October 30th, and with institutional vandalism, disorderly conduct (engaging in fighting), and criminal mischief for an incident on November 1st.
In his homicide case, McNevin is scheduled for a pre-trial conference before Judge William Martin next Tuesday. He’s charged with criminal homicide, attempted criminal homicide, two counts each of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment, plus a firearms violation and receiving stolen property, the gun used in the fatal shooting of Carlos Recalde-Campos and the wounding of Samantha Riley during the IUPattys event on March 25th in Indiana. Police say bad blood between McNevin and Recalde-Campos led to the shooting.
