Digging into the notes on the most recent meeting of the board of the Indiana County Chamber of Commerce, one of the more interesting developments was some comments made Byron Stauffer of the Indiana County Office of Planning and Development, who reported that “the phone is ringing” as “many” developers are looking at locations within the county.
One particular hot spot is the new, 200-acre Windy Ridge Business & Technology Park in White Township, according to Indiana County Development Corporation President Jim Wiley, who also noted interest in the 119 Business Park in center Township ad the Corporate Campus business park in Burrell Township.
Chamber President Joe Reschini told the board that the Chamber is closely involved in many of those discussions, and said “…the prospects have never been more exciting.”
Not all of the news is positive…WyoTech Director Mark Reynolds said the impending closure of his school by its parent company will mean the loss of more than seventy jobs, along with the educational focus on vocational jobs that Jim Struzzi said earlier this week is right in line with the industrial needs expected to bloom in the area in the coming years. Reynolds said WyoTech is open to a merger or acquisition by another entity that would allow the school to remain open, and both Reschini and Stauffer pledged to continue working on the problem.
