UPDATE:
More information was made available concerning the arrest of a man accused of killing a New Kensington police officer.
State Police announced earlier today that they arrested Rahammel Holt in connection with an investigation into the shooting death of officer Brian Shaw on Friday. Holt was picked up around 5:30 this morning at a home in Pittsburgh’s Hazelwood section along with three other people; Holt’s Mother, Sherry; his cousin Michael Mason, and his girlfriend Aysa Benson. The three were charged with hindering apprehension, according to online court documents.
According to police, Shaw was trying to pull over an SUV on Friday night for a minor violation when the shooting happened. Holt fled on foot after a brief chase and he allegedly shot Shaw in the chest.
At a news conference earlier today, it was announced that Holt was charged with murder of a law enforcement officer and firearms violations. He is now in Westmoreland County Jail without bond as he awaits a preliminary hearing.

Holt had been on the run since Friday Night. The arrest happened around 5:00 AM, and at least three others were taken into custody at the same time, and they may be charged with hindering apprehension. Holt was arrested in the Hazelwood neighborhood of Pittsburgh.
