The Marion Center School Board heard public concerns about the ongoing Pre-K program discussions, and made various personnel decisions at Monday’s meeting.
Discussions on the district’s Pre-K program will continue into the new year as the status of state grants for early education are determined and budgets finalized. During public comment, the board heard from citizens expressing their support for the Pre-K program and their desire to see it remain as it is and to continue to benefit the district’s children.
In decisions regarding personnel, the board approved the addition of two bus drivers, a professional substitute, and a high school custodian. The board also accepted the retirements of high school English teacher Rosie Petrillo and Head Cook of Operations Bonnie Slater. Petrillo was with Marion Center for 24 years, and Slater for 31 years.
Additionally, outgoing board members were acknowledged; Doug Hines served 2 years, Bob Young 4 years, and Robert Neese 26 years.
