Robert D. “Gome” Shirley, Jr., 66, of Homer City, passed away Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at UPMC Altoona.
Mr. Shirley was a graduate of Homer Center High School and had worked at Pizza House, delivering pizzas for many years. Gome was quite the handy man and enjoyed working on cars. He was a member of the American Legion and the Eagles.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra L. Cowoski Shirley, of Homer City; five children: Rich Boring, of Commodore; Vicky Boring, of McIntyre; Lisa Davis, of Johnstown; Bobby Shirley and Ryan Shirley; four step-children: Sheri Greenwald, of Kittanning; Timothy Woods, of Homer City; Richard Woods, of Homer City and Michael Woods, of Abbottstown; two brothers: Tommy Shirley, of Graceton and James Shirley, of Indiana; two sisters: Barb Shields, of Grafton and Renee Kinter, of Homer City; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-son, Anthony Woods and his brother, Chuckie Shirley.
Friends will be received from 4 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Robinson-Lytle, Inc., with the Rev. Denny Marshall officiating.
