Joann M. (Betts) Penrose, 78, of Blairsville, PA died Saturday, November 18, 2017 at AristaCare @ Hillsdale Park in Hillsdale, PA.
The daughter of Joseph C. and Viola M. (Roby) Betts, she was born on November 25, 1939 in Fairfield Twp., Westmoreland Co., PA.
A homemaker, Joann took pride and enjoyment in her housekeeping. She loved playing the mandolin and the guitar, as well as singing.
She could be found spending many pleasant hours crocheting and doing needlepoint projects. Joann also had a great fondness for jewelry.
On June 14, 1957, Joann married Leroy Penrose, Jr.
Joann is survived by her husband, Leroy, of sixty years; her son, Kevin Penrose and wife Patricia of Glen Campbell, PA; her granddaughter, Melissa Penrose and fiancé, Joshua Smith of Indiana, PA; her sister, Romayne Boring and husband, Eugene of Robinson, PA and her much beloved dogs, Smoke and Mitch.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her seven siblings: Edna Henderson; Thomas Betts; Olive Henderson; Guy Betts; Donald Betts; Gertrude Bowers and James Betts.
Family and friends will be received from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 20, 2017 at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, PA, where an 11:00 a.m. funeral service will take place on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 with Pastor Robert White officiating. Interment will follow at the Germany Lutheran Cemetery near New Florence, PA.
