UPDATE: The tree was raised back into position as cranes lifted the tree Monday morning. Dave Janusek of Downtown Indiana said that the tree did take on some damage, so some branches were removed, but they also have to untangle a lot of lights to determine if there’s any broken lights. Repairs are continuing.

As of noon on Monday, the GoFundMe account has raised $850 towards its $1500 goal.
WHAT WE FIRST REPORTED
Efforts are underway to put Downtown Indiana’s 42-feet tall Christmas Tree back in place, and a fundraising effort has been started to help pay for it.
The wind storm that came through Saturday night had winds in excess of 40 miles an hour, which knocked down the large Christmas tree in IRMC Park. Downtown Indiana, director Dave Janusek said what will happen next is that they are bringing in the cranes once again to right the tree and re-install it on the street in the middle of IRMC Park. That will happen today.
The cost of the equipment, labor and extra time to get the tree back into place is estimated at $1500. A GoFundMe fundraiser has been set up to help raise the funds for the project. Any money leftover will be used to pay for this year’s “It’s A Wonderful Life” Festival.
