The holiday season kicks off in Indiana tonight with the Lucy Donnelly Holiday Festival and tree lighting ceremony.
Everything starts tonight at 5:00 as activities start outside at IRMC Park on North 7th street, along with south 7th street and Philadelphia Street in Indiana Borough. The traditional marshmallow roasts will be held, along with other food and drink for everyone, crafts for kids, music and hayrides. The Indiana Junior High School Spirit Band will perform in IRMC Park at 6:00, and at 6:30 PM, the Love of Life Campaign will draw the winner of their annual ring raffle, giving away a ring valued at $13,000 from Gary Wyant. The Lucy Donnelly Holiday parade will start at 7:00 and work it’s way down Philadelphia Street from 11th street to 5th street. That will be followed by the tree-lighting ceremony at IRMC Park as the 43-foot-tall tree donated by Fleming’s Christmas Tree Farms will be lit for the first time this holiday season.
After the tree-lighting, there will be other activities going on, including music at the Brown Hotel, and a screening of “It’s A Wonderful Life” at the Indiana Theater at 8:30.
