George “Blackie” Edward King, 77, of Cherry Tree, PA died Sunday, November 12, 2017 at his home.
The son of Noman Sylvester and Hulda Marie (Deyarmin) King, he was born on August 8, 1940 in Westover, PA.
George attended the Arcadia grade school and was a 1959 graduate of Purchase Line High School.
For fifteen years George worked as a laborer in the construction industry and for a number of years he was employed in the logging industry involved with cutting and hauling timber.
He was a social member of the Northern Cambria and St. Benedict VFWs.
George is survived by his four sisters: Betty L. Walker of Marion Center, PA; Dorothy Mae Davis of Northern Cambria, PA; Erma Grace Riva of Northern Cambria, PA and
Alice Margaret Kelly of Homer City, PA and his numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his two brothers: Albert Dean King and Ernest Clair King and his sister, Evanah “Rose” Hickok.
Family and friends will be received from 3-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, PA, where an 11:00 a.m. funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2017 with Pastor Robert Sunseri officiating. Interment will take place at the Harmony Cemetery, Westover, PA.
