Police reports include a DUI with related traffic citations, the theft of a wallet, and several crashes.
Indiana Borough police say an Indiana man was arrested for driving under the influence and related traffic violations after a crash at 1:45 Sunday morning in the 300 block of North 4th Street. Police witnessed the crash when Robert Sweeney’s vehicle hit a utility pole and several street signs, and he then accelerated away. Eventually, he had to stop because of the damage to his vehicle, and he was taken into custody.
State police report the theft of a wallet on October 3rd at United High School in East Wheatfield Township. A 40-year-old Armagh woman reported that she misplaced the wallet while attending a sporting event and was later unable to find it.
There have been a number of accidents on area roadways. Police have not yet issued released reports on a crash on Saltsburg Road in Conemaugh Township Saturday just after 3:30 PM, another one shortly before 8 PM on Franklin Street in Clymer, a crash on Nowrytown Road in Conemaugh Township at about 12:35 AM Sunday for which firefighters were summoned to set up a helicopter landing zone, and another accident on Elders Ridge Road in Conemaugh Township at 2:15 AM.
Firefighters were also called for a brush fire along Snyder Lane in Burrell Township Saturday afternoon and a medic assist in Montgomery Township early Sunday morning.
