The State System of Higher Education has begun its search for a new chancellor, with Board of Governors Chairwoman Cynthia Shapira and vice chairman Harold Shields leading the committee. The national firm Wheless Partners has been hired to conduct the search and recruit candidates.
Shapira says the next chancellor will come on board at “an exciting time” for the State System, as it continues the process of a complete redesign of the state-owned university network. After a comprehensive review of operations was completed in July, the Governors last month adopted three priorities to “ensure a brighter future” for the universities, including restructuring the governance and leadership of the System.
The chancellor search committee met for the first time last Monday and plans to complete the process next summer. Until a new chancellor is hired, former Clarion President Karen Whitney is serving as interim chancellor.
IUP faculty member Dr. Laura Delbrugge is a member of the search committee.
