Tomorrow is the annual Veteran’s Day parade in Downtown Indiana, and part of that parade will have a special tribute to Jimmy Stewart.
The Experimental Aviation Association will show Jimmy’s 1961 310F Cessna Airplane during tomrorow’s parade. The plane was discovered a little over two years ago in Texas, and since then, people with the EAA have been working on restoring the plane, with the ultimate goal of putting it on display at the airport. Harold Wood, the project leader said one of the tougher aspects of the project was trying to find the proper colors for the plane, as the only reference point they had on the plane’s design was a black-and-white photo.

They had even asked Jimmy’s daughters, and they were not able to remember the colors. A color code was finally discovered in the nose cone of the plane, and Cessna experts were able to figure out what colors were needed.

Unfortunately the plane will never fly again, but it will be put high on a pole as part of an outdoor display at the Jimmy Stewart Airport in the future.
