Tonight, a NFL Hall of Famer and a Steeler Legend will join the YMCA in promoting youth mentoring in the community.
Tonight is the annual YMCA “Bowl For Kids” event at Mohawk Lanes which will benefit Big Hearts/Little Hands of Indiana County. The program is the Y’s mentoring program, where volunteer mentors will help boys and girls with the sometimes difficult process of growing up.
Kelsea Docher of the Y says that they help kids who need a positive adult influence in their life.
For this year’s BFK program, Jerome Bettis will come by to give his support to the cause. Jackie Overdorff with Bowl for Kids said that Bettis is a natural fit for tonight’s program, as he is not only an avid bowler in his free time, he also supports mentoring causes.
Bettis will speak with BFK Participants at a pre-party at the Y to talk about why mentoring programs are so important to him before the bowling starts at Mowhawk Lanes at 6:00.
