IUP maintained a perfect 10-0 record in the regular season after Saturday’s 36-10 win over Mercyhurst.

The Crimson Hawks men’s basketball team dropped its second straight game at the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic in Evansville, Indiana. IUP fell to Ferris State, 86-82.
In high school sports, at Saturday’s state cross country meet in Hershey, the Marion Center girls finished fourth in Class A, while the Stingers’ boys finished 13th. In Class AA, Indiana’s boys finished 9th. Marion Center’s Mackenzie Walker earned a medadl with a 14th place finish. Other medal winners were Marion Center’s Hunter Armstrong in 16th place, and Indiana’s Kendall Branan in 11th place.
The Northern Cambria girls defeated Bishop Carroll, 3-2 to win the District 6 Class A volleyball title Saturday, while Bald Eagle defeated West Shamokin, 3-1 to win the Class AA title.
In the pros, the Penguins lost to the Vancouver Canucks, 4-2 at Rogers Arena. With the loss, the Pens’ five-game road trip ends with a record of 1-3-1. Just before three minutes into the game, Jake Guentzel scored a power play goal, but the Canucks’ Brock Boeser would score twice before the end of the half. The Penguins’ Greg McKegg tied the game with a goal in the third period, but Boeser scored a third time, followed by a goal by Bo Horvat. Pens’ goaltender Matt Murray blocked 4 of 21 shots.
The Pens will be back in Pittsburgh on Tuesday against the Arizona Coyotes beginning with the pregame show at 6 PM on U92.5 and the U92 Sports Channel.
