The Pirates have exercised their contract option to keep Andrew McCutchen with the Pirates for at least one more year. He will get $14.75 million for the next year. The Pirates had the option of buying out his contract for $1 million to make him a free agent.
McCutchen has repeatedly stated he wants to remain with the Pirates and retire a Pirate.
