Another Indiana Mall Anchor Store is set to close early next year as part of another round of closures for a major department store chain.
Sears Holding Corporation announced another 49 stores will close throughout the country. This includes Sears in the Indiana Mall. Sears was one of the four anchor stores of the Indiana Mall that opened when the mall opened in 1979. The main store will close in late January, remaining open for the holidays, but the Auto Center is expected to close in December.
This marks the second anchor store and fourth long-time tenant at the Indiana Mall to close this year. Other stores that closed this year included Kmart (an anchor store), RadioShack and FYE, which used to do business as The Wall Music and National Record Mart.
