The man accused of killing a Pitt student and raping a former IUP student will return to Pittsburgh today.
Allegheny County Sheriffs are in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to transport 21-year-old Matthew Darby back to Pittsburgh to face charges related to the killing of his ex-girlfriend 20-year-old Alina Sheykhet at her off-campus apartment in Oakland. She was found dead in her apartment on October 8th, and was arrested days later in Myrtle Beach after a concerned citizen noticed him fiddling with a window on a home. He was charged with loitering and providing false information to police, and entered a guilty plea to those charges late Tuesday afternoon in Myrtle Beach court.
Darby is also charged with raping another ex-girlfriend, a former IUP student, in Indiana last February, and was in Indiana County court a few days before Sheykhet’s murder. He was also accused of raping a girl from Elizabeth on October 3rd.
