A man and woman from White Township are accused of concocting a fake robbery story to cover up a domestic dispute that turned violent last Saturday.
State police say 30-year-old Nathan Richard Dietman and 43-year-old Tonya Jean Hamilton fought each other at a home in the 300 block of Maple Street. During their altercation, police say Hamilton stabbed Dietman with a knife after he choked her on the floor. Indiana County 911 dispatched police for a reported home invasion robbery, and on their arrival, Dietman was combative and was taken into custody. Hamilton then told the troopers that they had just been robbed and that Dietman had been stabbed by an unknown assailant. The investigation revealed that Hamilton had fled the home after the fight and had reported the robbery to a neighbor, who had called 911.
Both Dietman and Hamilton were placed in the Indiana County Jail. Dietman is charged with felony strangulation and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, simple assault, resisting arrest, false reports, and disorderly conduct. Hamilton is charged with felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor simple assault and false reports, and summary disorderly conduct.
