At last night’s Indiana School Board meeting, the board once again delayed paying architects connected with the scuttled Ben Franklin Elementary School Project.
A motion to pay the construction bills to McKissick Associates was tabled, as there was an idea that came up during public comment from Terry Kerr that the district could probably negotiate the final bill with McKissick. This was something that board member Walter Schroth was definitely in favor of. The district will continue to examine the bills over the next two weeks and will discuss further at their meeting on November 13th.
In other business, class sizes were discussed, as some elementary class sizes in Kindergarten have hit the upper limit levels. Right now, Kindergarten classes at Ben Franklin are at the limit of 20 students per class, which makes things tight for the classrooms at that school. The discussion will go back to the committee level for further discussion, but it was something that Board President Doug Steve said should be brought up.
The board also approved a list of district officials that would be allowed to issue non-traffic citations as truancy officers with the district.
