John Edward Hunter, 86, of Indiana, passed away Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, at Indiana Regional Medical Center.
A son of the late Hugh and Ruth Matz Hunter, he was born Feb. 11, 1931, in Indiana.
Mr. Hunter was a graduate of Indiana High School. He retired from IA Construction, where he was a district manager. Mr. Hunter was a member of the Indiana Lodge 313 F. & A.M. He was also a 33rd Degree Mason of the Coudersport Consistory and a member of the Association of Retired Engineers. Mr. Hunter had a great sense of humor and enjoyed joking with people. He loved his animals and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, going to camp and spending time with his family.
He is survived by two children: John A. Hunter and wife Patty, of Indiana; Bryan E. Hunter and wife Lisa, of Indiana; a brother, Robert Hunter and wife Virginia, of Ashville, NC; two grandchildren: Christopher Hunter and Derek Hunter; a great grandson, Joseph Hunter and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane Park Hunter, on Feb. 21, 1989. They were married in 1952 on Thanksgiving Day. He was also preceded in death by a brother, William A. Hunter; and a sister, Barbara Jean Fairman.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Robinson-Lytle, Inc. Additional visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 p.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. David J. Hanna officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
