Pennsylvania’s Department of Labor and Industry has announced that the statewide unemployment rate fell in September, but not by much.
Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate went down by one-tenth of a percent to 4.8%. That’s still over the national unemployment rate of 4.2%, which had also gone down in September by two-tenths of a percent. The civilian labor force went down 15,000 to 6,414,000 workers.
The non-farm job count state-wide was 10,300 to a record high of 5,970,400. Jobs were up in seven of the 11 sub-sectors, with the largest gain in trade, transportation and utilities, which went up by 7300. The largest decrease was in professional and business services, which went down 2700.
