The State Senate yesterday unanimously confirmed former State House Speaker Sam Smith to replace Jonathan Mack on the Board of Governors of the State System of Higher Education. Senator Don White made the announcement, commending Mack for his service and saying he expects Smith to be a strong advocate for IUP on the board.
Smith is the chairman of IUP Council of Trustees. He was first elected to the state House in 1986 and retired at the end of 2014. He was Speaker of the House from 2011 until his retirement.
Jonathan Mack was named to the Board of Governors in 2009 and is the vice chairman of IUP’s Council of Trustees. He is a partner with the law firm of Marcus & Mack in Indiana.
