Last night, the Blairsville-Saltsburg School Board voiced their support for a pedestrian bridge over Route 22.
Board Member Rick Harper brought up the item during last night’s school board meeting. The proposed bridge would be near the Wyotech campus, which is close to the Blairsville school complex. He said that the project in the past has met with resistance from local politicians but he sees the project as a win-win for the district and the residents of Blairsville. One example he cited was that it would proivde easy access to students who may need to access the school during the summer months. Instead of requiring a car ride, they can ride their bikes to the school in a safe manner.
In other business, the board approved accepting an $800 grant from Marathon Kids for physical education. They also approved, with regret, the retirement of Kimberly Joyce, a teacher with the district for 20 years.
