The State System of Higher Education and its faculty union yesterday announced a tentative contract agreement. If approved, the deal with the Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties would take effect after the expiration of the current contract, and would expire on June 30th of 2019.
Negotiations began on August 9th and have proceeded quietly, in contrast to the bargaining on previous contracts. The current contract was finally arrived at on October 27th last year, after the first strike in the history of the State System. It was a three-year deal, but because it was retroactive, it expires at the end of June next year.
Details on the new agreement will not be released until the contract is signed. APSCUF says on-campus voting dates have not yet been set, and members will be able to read it in the members-only section of the union’s website.
