One person was killed and several others were injured in a crash in Cherryhill Township Friday evening.
State Police say that an SUV going south along Route 403 near Treese Road was approaching a right curve in the roadway, as a pickup truck was coming the other direction followed by another SUV. As the southbound SUV and the northbound truck approached a curve in the road, the two vehicles collided head-on, with the first SUV coming to rest off the west shoulder of 403. The Northbound SUV ran into the passenger side of the pickup truck, pushing the truck onto the east shoulder and the northbound SUV came to rest on the west shoulder.
The driver of the Southbound SUV passed away in the crash. Their identity is being withheld at this time, pending notification of the next of kin. The driver of the truck, Jonathan Roush of Twin Rocks, had moderate injuries and was flown to Altoona Hospital. A 12-year-old girl in the truck, also from Twin Rocks, had moderate injuries as well and was taken to Children’s Hospital. Melissa Nagle of Nanty Glo, who was the driver of the northbound SUV, had minor injuries and was taken to IRMC, while two 11-year-old girls in the SUV with her had non-life-threatening injuries and they were flown to Children’s Hospital, while a 9-year-old Nanty Glo girl was not injured.
State Police were assisted by Clymer and Marion Center fire departments, Citizen’s Ambulance, LifeFlight and PennDOT along with the Indiana County Coroner’s Office. Investigation went on throughout the night with the State Police Collision analysis and reconstruction specialist unit and the forensic services unit.
