The Homer City Borough Council discussed an ordinance being pursued due to noise along Route 119, and the borough manager gave an update on the nearly-complete Main Street project.
The council has been receiving complaints about noise on 119, especially with the removal of the trees that served as a natural barrier. As such, the council approved a motion to submit a request for a jake brake ordinance to PennDOT. Should PennDOT approve the request, the ordinance would come into effect from borough line to borough line along 119 once appropriate signage is posted.
Borough Manager Rob Nymick said the Main Street project is nearly complete, save for a few light poles and parking meters that should be installed by Thanksgiving. Nymick said also that residents and businesses can still purchase benches, and, a ribbon cutting for Main Street will be planned in the near future.
Additionally, work has begun on next year’s general budget, but it is still in very preliminary stages.
In other news, the Halloween parade is slated for 5:30 on October 31st, with trick-or-treating to follow until 8 o’clock. The Elementary Halloween parade will take place on Friday the 27th at 1:30.
