A bill to re-name a bridge on Route 119 in honor of a marine killed in action in Vietnam has passed the state house.
State House Member Cris Dush announced on Monday that House Bill 1516, which would designate the newly constructed bridge going over Pine Run Creek would be renamed the Private First Class Frank Enzer Weiss United States Marine Corps Bridge. Weiss, a native of Tanoma, was a rifleman in G Company, 2nd Batallion, 4th marines, 3rd Marine Division with the Amphibious Force in the Marine Corps. On March 18th, 1968, Weiss was killed by hostile enemy fire in the Quang Tri Province in South Vietnam. He was awarded the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.
The bill is now on its way to the State Senate.
