A jury found an Indiana man guilty of three charges related to an incident between neighbors in 2016.
66-year-old Thomas Michael Burkhart was found guilty of simple assault, reckless endangerment and criminal trespass in a case that dates back to June of 2016. Police and the victim said that David Neff was weeding his garden at the time when a weed that he tossed on his property went over the fence and into Burkhart. Burkhart and Neff had problems in the past, and this time, Burkhart jumped over the fence, brandished a gun, and threatened that he would “blow Neff’s head off”. In an effort to defend himself, Neff started punching Burkhart. State troopers were able to separate the two.
Burkhart faces a maximum of four years in jail as well as costs and fines. His sentencing hearing will be held December 8th.
