PennDOT has announced that work will continue on two projects on Route 119 north of Indiana.
One project will be the Grove Chapel Climbing Lane project in Rayne Township. Starting Monday, traffic in both the northbound and southbound lanes of Route 119 will shift from existing to the newly constructed Southbound lanes. The shift is so crews can set new concrete barriers. Once the traffic shift is in place, workers with the Ligonier Construction Company will start reconstructing the existing Northbound lane between Rayne Township School Drive and Craig Road. The project, costing a projected $14.6 million, is expected to wrap up in November of 2018.
The other project is for the Home Railroad Bridge project in Home Station, and it will be another shift in traffic. Traffic will move to the newly constructed bridge to facilitate continued work on the project, with final paving set to take place later in the project’s timeline. This is a $9.0 million bridge replacement project worked on by Swank Construction Company, and is expected to wrap up at the end of the year.
Drivers in both areas should expect congestion as part of their commutes, and are reminded to slow down and allow extra time to get through both of these work zones.
